Shipping
Everything you need to know about shipping, pickup, duties, tracking, and delivery.
Where do you ship from?
All orders are fulfilled from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
GST/HST and PST will be charged on Canadian orders based on your province or territory.
Orders shipped outside Canada may be subject to customs duties, import taxes, brokerage fees, or other import-related charges.
U.S. orders: For in-stock purchases, duties and import charges are collected at checkout. For pre-orders and backorders, these charges are collected when the item arrives and you complete the Arrival Invoice. For other international destinations, import charges may be collected by the local customs authority or carrier.
What is the shipping cost and when do I pay?
Standard Shipping
$14.99 CADFlat rate per shipment within Canada.
Eligible in-stock orders over $300 CAD qualify for free shipping with promo code FREESHIP300.
U.S. Shipping
$24.99 CADFlat rate per shipment to the contiguous United States.
Canadian free-shipping thresholds do not apply.
Canadian Free Shipping: Enter promo code FREESHIP300 at checkout. The code is not applied automatically and cannot be combined with other promo codes or coupons. The $300 minimum applies to each individual order, so multiple orders cannot be combined to qualify.
Alaska, Hawaii & U.S. Territories
The standard U.S. flat rate does not apply to Alaska, Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, or other U.S. territories outside the contiguous United States.
Please contact us for a shipping quote before placing your order.
International Shipping
For destinations outside Canada and the United States, shipping is not charged at checkout for in-stock, pre-order, or backorder purchases.
International shipping is calculated separately based on the items ordered, package size and weight, and destination.
For international in-stock orders, we will calculate the shipping cost and send you a separate shipping invoice before your order is shipped.
For international pre-orders and backorders, please complete your Arrival Invoice first to confirm your delivery information. We will then calculate the international shipping cost and send you a separate shipping invoice before your order is shipped.
We recommend contacting us for a shipping quote before placing your order. Please let us know which item(s) you would like to purchase, along with the destination country and postal code, so we can provide an estimated shipping cost.
When do I pay for shipping and duties?
Canadian In-Stock Orders: Shipping is paid at checkout unless the order qualifies for an eligible free-shipping offer.
U.S. In-Stock Orders: Shipping and duties or import charges are calculated and paid at checkout.
Pre-Orders & Backorders: When your item arrives, we will send you an Arrival Notice email with an Arrival Invoice. Complete the Arrival Invoice to pay any remaining balance, if needed, and choose how you would like to receive your item. Depending on your order and destination, the invoice may also include shipping charges or duties.
International Orders: International shipping is calculated separately and is not charged at checkout. For pre-orders and backorders, complete your Arrival Invoice first and we will send you a separate shipping invoice afterward.
Duties & Import Charges
Orders shipped outside Canada may be subject to customs duties, tariffs, import taxes, brokerage fees, or other import-related charges.
U.S. orders: Duties and import charges are collected by Hobby Bee at checkout for in-stock orders or through the Arrival Invoice for pre-orders and backorders. For other international destinations, import charges are generally paid by the recipient and may be collected by the local customs authority or carrier.
Multiple Shipments
Large orders may need to be sent in more than one shipment if everything cannot safely fit into our standard shipping boxes. Additional shipping charges may apply when more than one shipment is needed.
How are duties handled for U.S. orders?
Orders shipped to the United States may be subject to duties, tariffs, taxes, or other import-related charges under current U.S. import rules.
For in-stock orders, duties and import charges are calculated and collected at checkout.
For pre-orders and backorders, duties are not collected when the order is first placed. Once your item arrives, any duties and import charges will be included when you complete the Arrival Invoice.
Import charges can vary depending on the product, country of origin, and current U.S. import rules.
Collecting these charges before shipment helps make customs clearance smoother and reduces the chance of unexpected charges at delivery.
How long does it take to process an order before it ships?
Most in-stock orders are processed within 2 business days.
Processing may take a little longer during weekends, holidays, major releases, promotions, or other busy periods.
For pre-orders and backorders, please complete the Arrival Invoice and choose your delivery method before we prepare the order for shipping or pickup.
Can I pick up my online order in-store?
Yes. Online orders can be picked up at our Vancouver Renfrew store at no shipping charge.
For in-stock orders, select Pickup as your delivery method during checkout.
For pre-orders and backorders, complete the Arrival Invoice and select In-Store Pickup after your item arrives.
Once you complete the Arrival Invoice and select In-Store Pickup, your order is typically ready at our Vancouver Renfrew store within 2 business days.
Please wait for the pickup-ready email before visiting the store. Receiving an Arrival Notice email means your item has arrived at our warehouse, but it does not mean the order is ready for pickup.
How long will you hold my pickup order?
There is no need to pick up your order right away. We can hold it at our Vancouver Renfrew store while you arrange a convenient time to come in.
Your free pickup hold period follows the same schedule as our Private Warehouse:
Free Pickup Hold
60 DaysFree Pickup Hold
90 DaysIn-Stock Orders: The free hold period begins when we send your pickup-ready email.
Pre-Orders & Backorders: The free hold period begins when we send the Arrival Notice email for each item. If you later choose In-Store Pickup, the storage period continues from the original Arrival Notice date and does not start over.
After the free hold period ends, a storage fee of $2 CAD per item, per month applies.
Items can be held for up to six months, calculated from the same date that the free hold period began.
If you're travelling or simply cannot make it to the store right away, that's completely fine. You do not need to pick up your order immediately, but the original storage period will continue to run.
My pre-order has arrived. Can I go directly to the store to pick it up?
Not yet. When you receive the Arrival Notice email, first complete the Arrival Invoice and select In-Store Pickup.
If your pre-order was placed with a deposit, any remaining balance will be shown on the Arrival Invoice. If your pre-order was already paid in full, there may be nothing else to pay.
Even if there is no balance due, you still need to complete the Arrival Invoice and select In-Store Pickup so we know to prepare your order for collection.
After you complete the Arrival Invoice, your order is typically ready at our Vancouver Renfrew store within 2 business days.
Please wait for the pickup-ready email before coming to the store.
Can someone else pick up my order for me?
Yes. Someone else may pick up your order on your behalf.
Please make sure they have the order number and the name of the person who placed the order when they come to pick it up.
If possible, you can also let us know in advance who will be picking it up.
Please make sure you have received the pickup-ready email before they come to the store.
Why can’t I choose “Pickup In Store” at checkout?
If you are outside Canada or using a VPN, Shopify may not automatically show the Pickup In Store option because pickup availability can depend on your detected location.
Try the following:
- Select Change location during checkout.
- Enter your Canadian address.
- Return to the delivery options and check whether Pickup is available.
If the option still does not appear, contact us and we can help.
Can I change my shipping address?
Yes. If your order has not shipped yet, please contact us as soon as possible with your order number and updated shipping address.
For pre-orders and backorders, you can also provide or confirm your shipping address when completing the Arrival Invoice after your item arrives.
Please check your shipping address carefully before completing your order or Arrival Invoice. Once your package has shipped, we may no longer be able to change the delivery address.
I placed a pre-order, but my order does not show a shipping address. Is this normal?
Yes. This is normal for pre-orders. Shipping is not arranged when the pre-order is first placed, so your original order may only show your billing address.
Once your pre-order arrives at our warehouse, we will send you an Arrival Notice email with an Arrival Invoice. You can provide or confirm your shipping address when you complete the Arrival Invoice.
If you would rather pick up your order, simply select In-Store Pickup on the Arrival Invoice.
If your original pre-order does not show a shipping address, you do not need to do anything until your item arrives.
Do shipped orders include tracking?
Yes. All shipped orders include a tracking number. We will send you a shipping confirmation email with the tracking information once your order has been shipped.
For additional security, our shipments generally require delivery to a person at the provided address rather than being left unattended at the door.
If no one is available to receive the package, the carrier will typically redirect it to a nearby post office, pickup point, or carrier location for collection.
What should I do if my tracking has not updated?
Tracking updates can sometimes be delayed between carrier scans, especially while a package is moving between facilities or going through customs.
If your tracking has not updated for an unusual amount of time, contact us with your order number. We can check the shipment and follow up with the carrier when needed.
Carrier investigations can take some time, and the timeframe varies depending on the carrier and destination.
What happens if I’m not home when my package is delivered?
Because collectibles can be valuable, we generally require packages to be delivered to a person rather than left unattended at the door.
If no one is available to receive the package, the carrier will usually redirect it to a nearby post office, pickup point, or carrier location for collection.
Please check your tracking information or delivery notice for pickup instructions.
What happens if my package is returned to Hobby Bee?
A package may be returned to us if the delivery address is incorrect or incomplete, the shipment is refused, or it is not collected from the carrier within the required pickup period.
If a package is returned for one of these reasons, the customer will be responsible for the return shipping charges and the cost of shipping the order again.
Please check your shipping address carefully before completing your order and keep an eye on the tracking information after your package ships.
Duties, brokerage fees, or other carrier charges that have already been incurred may not be refundable.
My order arrived damaged. What should I do?
Please contact us as soon as possible with your order number and clear photos showing the damaged item and packaging.
Please keep the shipping carton, product packaging, and all packing materials until the issue has been resolved. The carrier or insurer may ask for photos, additional information, or a signed statement as part of the claim.
Please do not throw away the shipping carton or packaging until the claim has been resolved. These materials may be needed for the claim.
If you purchased shipping insurance, Hobby Bee can help you file a claim. All claims are reviewed and approved by the carrier or insurer.
If the problem appears to be a manufacturing defect rather than shipping damage, please contact us and we will help you figure out the appropriate warranty or replacement process.
Is my package insured against damage or loss?
Optional shipping insurance is not included with standard shipping. Insurance can be purchased at checkout for eligible shipments with items valued at up to $400 CAD in total.
Coverage applies to:
- Loss while the package is in transit.
- Physical damage to the item during transit.
Coverage does not apply to:
- Parcel theft after confirmed delivery.
- Damage limited to the product's retail packaging.
- Manufacturing defects or missing parts unrelated to shipping.
If an insured package is damaged or lost in transit, Hobby Bee can help you file the claim and provide the shipment information needed.
Claims are reviewed and approved by the carrier or insurer.
If you experience a shipping issue, please contact us at info@hobby-bee.com.
